TOHacks aims to connect talented youth entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators with the top industry professionals in rising fields of new technologies. We believe in the youth of today and know that when they are given the proper tools and guidance, they will become the leaders of tomorrow who are capable of taking on any challenges and being critical problem solvers.
Challenge 1: Microsoft
Azure Champ Prize: Let’s use Microsoft Azure to develop your project! Please make sure the project addresses an opportunity and provides a solution, innovative technical designs, clear audiences, understandable functionality, and a degree of professionalism, while using Azure! Good luck!
Judging criteria:
- Was the project developed using Microsoft Azure? (required for entry)
- Does the project address a clear need, problem, or opportunity and is the solution clearly explained?
- Does the project include innovations in technical design and/or implementation of services (e.g., Cognitive Services, Bot, Services, IoT Hub, Functions) and/or user experience?
- Does the project have a clear target market or audience?
- Is the project’s purpose and basic functionality easily understood?
- Does the project have a professional degree of production in terms of performance, user interface, visuals, and audio?
Challenge 2: Lantern Institute
The challenge revolves around Moore’s law and the ever increasing volume of data driving innovation. By understanding how tapping into new sources of data has revolutionized our lives, shaped societies, and expanded our reach into the unknown, design a way to guide data collection to advance societal innovation.
Judging Criteria:
- Was the solution effective in its' nature?
- What level of originality does the solution posses?
- Was the solution's design feasible?
- What was the technical complexity of solution?
- How effectively was design thinking and creative processes implemented?
- Did the group members present their project with clarity and confidence?
Challenge 3: TOHacks and Fiix
Using your individual experiences and background, tackle a social issue that you believe can be solved through technology or can be alleviated. If you want an extra challenge, try tackling a social issue which hasn’t really been talked about.
Judging Criteria:
- Was the solution effective in its' nature?
- What level of originality does the solution posses?
- Was the solution's design feasible?
- What was the technical complexity of solution?
- How effectively was design thinking and creative processes implemented?
- Did the group members present their project with clarity and confidence?

Each team can only have a maximum of 4 people.
